From CLC..... Dear Homeschool Friends, We would like to extend an invitation to your community to attend two upcoming events sponsored by the Family Schools Program of Covenant Life Church. Students in the umbrella program of FSP are putting on a History Fair, April 13, 2013, featuring student projects from any era of history as the centerpiece.

For anyone who might be interested....there's a Living Social Deal that must be bought today for admission to the Newseum for only $10 (normally $22). It looks like the deal may be used for the whole month of December. (Closed Christmas Day).

Remember - Chick-fil-A is coming to Co-op tomorrow!! The cost is $3.50 (which includes tax.) There will be a number of extra sandwiches for those who did not pre-order or for those who find that they just must have one more!!  : ) Thanks so much to Paul Bricker and Troop 2215 for bringing Chick-fil-A to us!

From Rob Peace: FIRST ROBOTICS (Fort Belvoir grades 8-12) – Open to the community (public, private, and homeschooled) – Team 1123 (AIM Robotics) is accepting new students and adult mentors for the Jan-Mar 2013 FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). http://www.aim-robotics.org The team designs and builds a large robot to compete at the Washington DC Convention Center in March. Every year’s challenge is unique and will be announced January 5th.

The Christmas season is quickly approaching us, which means it is time to begin Operation Christmas Child! We have so much to be grateful for, and my hope this Christmas season is that we can, once again, share some of our many blessings with those less fortunate than us by sending gift-filled shoeboxes to children around the world. From Susan Jorde Hello All, As you may know, we have 18 folks heading to the Dominican Republic this Friday and Saturday (3/30&31) to help with construction projects and Vacation Bible School at a church in Santiago. There are 11 people in the Friday group who are in need of help getting to the airport. We’re hoping to secure some vans and a few wide awake older teens/adults who are willing to drive them and their gear to BWI airport.

The Peace family asked me to pass this along: Next Friday and Saturday, March 30th and 31st, 63 high-school-age robotic teams from across the country will compete for an opportunity to progress to the nationals. The event is free and open to the public. A member of our church, Pam Hanner, is a speech therapist for Fairfax County and has offered to give free speech evaluations to anyone who is interested in having their child evaluated. She is coming at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 1 and will be there all morning.

From Sarah Lannon: I am happy to announce that today I dropped off 38 stuffed shoeboxes to one of the OCC drop-off locations, where our shoeboxes were packed up and will be sent to Samaritan's Purse, and then sent out across the globe. Thank you so much for your generosity! The children who receive these shoeboxes are going to be so excited and thankful.

We have 16 stuffed shoe boxes so far (woohoo!)! This week is the final collection week for Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes. Please bring your stuffed shoe boxes to co-op by this Tuesday or Thursday.
