So here is the soundtrack to yesterday's post. Like the books, not all of these albums were released in 2008, but this is music that I have rocked out to in the last year. Enjoy...
8. Adios—The Greatest Hits, Audio Adrenaline. Old-school fun. I like happy music, what can I say?
7. Roots, Shawn MacDonald. Earthy, creative. So different in so many ways from the usual CCM offerings.
6. Complete Piano Concertos, Beethoven/Alfred Brendel & The Chicago Symphony. Bought this after hearing the 4th at the Kennedy Center. Pure genius, every moment. Why did I not buy this earlier?
5. Deliberate Kids, Phil Joel. Newsboys frontman Phil Joel brings it for the kiddos. Children's albums aren't normally marked by sonic or lyric quality. Joel brings both. I'm not ashamed to say that I think I like this album even more than my kids do; several songs are even on my running playlist!
4. Psalms, Sovereign Grace Music. As devotionally heart-felt and lyrically rich as the Psalms themselves. Worshipful in every respect.
T-3. The Process of the Pardon, Voice <AND> The Atonement, Shai Linne. Top notch rap from both of these guys. I can't imagine more theological content being stuffed into one song than these Voice and Shai Linne manage. Who else is rapping (or singing) about limited atonement, evangelism, the image of God, the penalty of sin, or the glory of the Cross like these guys?
1. Lu (Looked Upon), The New Attitude Band. Choice. Probably my most-played album this year for the mellow, contemplative melodies and thoughtful, insightful lyrics. I hope Devon keeps it coming.
How about you? What are your favorites?
